Sienna monotone 2. Complement underpainting (So green on red things, blue on yellow things, and so on.) 3. Alla Prima glazes of true final color 4. Dry/Sand 5. Final glazes This technique is popular in colored pencil paintings, too. I've been doing grisaille digitally lately, because it's much easier for me to figure out value separately from color.
